Ontario has introduced the Home Renovation Savings Program as part of its broader energy efficiency initiatives. This program is designed to help homeowners reduce energy costs, increase property value, and contribute to a greener future. With rebates covering up to 30% of eligible upgrade costs, it’s a game-changer for energy-conscious homeowners.
At Nordik Windows & Doors, we’re always looking for ways to help our customers make their homes more comfortable, sustainable, and cost-effective. We’re excited to share that Ontario homeowners now have access to new and expanded financial incentives designed to support energy-efficient home upgrades—helping you reduce your carbon footprint while saving money in the long run. This is the perfect time to consider upgrading your windows and doors, which can make a substantial difference in your home's energy efficiency.
Are there any Window and Door Rebates in Ontario right now?
Starting January 28th, 2025, the Government of Ontario will launch their Home Renovation Savings Program which will offer rebates of $100 per new window and door and $600 for a home energy assessment.
This is in addition to the Canada Greener Homes Loan , a federal government rebate, which consists of an interest-free $40,000 loan issued by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and payable over a 10-year period.
What is the Home Renovation Savings Program from the Government of Ontario?
The Home Renovation Savings Program from the Government of Ontario is an initiative aimed at helping homeowners make energy-efficient upgrades to their properties. The program offers rebates covering up to 30% of the cost for eligible improvements, such as energy-efficient windows and doors, insulation, smart thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and battery storage systems. It is part of Ontario's broader effort to reduce energy consumption, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and provide financial savings to residents.
The Ontario government has introduced several new programs aimed at reducing household energy costs and boosting environmental sustainability. These programs are designed to make energy-efficient upgrades more accessible and affordable for homeowners across the province. The most recent expansion builds upon the success of earlier initiatives, including the GreenON program and Home Efficiency Rebate.
The new Home Renovation Savings Program offers rebates for a wide range of home improvements, and one of the areas receiving special attention is the upgrading of windows and doors—critical elements that directly impact your home’s energy efficiency.
What Upgrades Are Eligible for Rebates Under Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings Program?
The Home Renovation Savings Program provides rebates for a range of energy-efficient upgrades, including:
$600 for a home energy assessment
$100 per new window and door
Up to $8,900 for insulation
Up to $250 for air sealing

Later in 2025, the program will expand to include energy-efficient appliances such as refrigerators and freezers.
The Importance of Energy-Efficient Windows and Doors
Windows and doors are essential to maintaining your home’s thermal comfort. Old or inefficient windows and doors can lead to significant energy loss, making it harder to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This not only strains your HVAC system but also drives up your energy bills. By replacing older, outdated windows and doors with energy-efficient models, you can:
Improve Insulation: Modern windows and doors feature advanced materials and technologies that keep your home at a consistent, comfortable temperature year-round.
Lower Energy Bills: With better insulation and reduced heat loss or gain, your heating and cooling systems won’t have to work as hard, resulting in lower energy consumption and significant savings.
Reduce Carbon Footprint: Energy-efficient windows and doors help reduce the amount of energy required to heat and cool your home, which leads to fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
Increase Home Value: Upgrading your windows and doors is not only a smart investment for energy savings but also a boost to your home’s resale value, making it a win-win for homeowners planning to sell in the future.
Protip
By replacing older, outdated windows and doors with energy-efficient models, you can lower your energy bills, improve your carbon footprint, and increase your home's value.
