Upgrading your home’s windows and doors is an exciting milestone, and we believe the experience should be just as bright as the view. At Nordik, we make the process straightforward, transparent, and guided by a team that truly has your back.

Homeowners across the GTA often tell us the same thing: "That was actually easy!" because we value the people we work with just as much as the products we install.

Our window and door experts bring years of experience and a love for what they do, and it shows. They are there to have an honest conversation, not sell you something at a premium.

What Happens When You Request A Quote With Nordik

Whether you fill out the booking form on nordik.com or give us a call, the first step is simple. Tell us what you need.

What happens next is a friendly conversation with an expert who knows everything about windows and doors, and the difference between good and great. Honest answers, no pressure, and a clear picture of exactly what's involved. That's the standard every Nordik consultation is built around.

Here's exactly what it looks like from your first call to the final install:

Step-By-Step Journey

Step 1: Book An In-Home Appointment

Before we send anyone to your home, a member of our team calls you to have a quick conversation about your project. How many windows are you thinking about replacing? Are there any obvious issues you've noticed? What's your general timeline?

It's a simple conversation, but it means your consultant shows up to your home already oriented. They ask the right questions from the start rather than spending the first twenty minutes getting up to speed.

From there, your in-home appointment gets scheduled at a time that works for you.

Why An In-Home Appointment Is Important?

A real recommendation requires a real look at your home. Every house is different, the age of the frames, how the windows are performing, whether the weatherstripping has started to give, how a sash feels when you open and close it.  An in-home inspection, means your consultant can identify what's actually going on before making a recommendation, not make guesses based on a description.

Also, windows and doors are custom-built to fit your exact home’s needs and measurements. No two homes or two quotes are identical.

It's also where the product comes to life. Your consultant brings samples to every appointment so you can see and feel the difference between our RevoCell solid-core mPVC frames vs the industry standard hollow vinyl (PVC) window. You get to see what a hollow vs solid-core frame looks like, see the slim profile, and understand why it holds up in Canadian weather.

Step 2: In-Home Walkthrough and Customization

When your consultant arrives, the first thing they do is take a proper look at every window and door you're considering. They start off with an assessment of your current windows and doors noting anything worth flagging or keeping.

Red flags include signs of a broken seal, a frame that's cracking, warping, has some discolouration, or condensation between the window panes. They also look for things that can affect how we’d approach the job and take precise measurements of each opening.

Most importantly, they’re listening just as much as they’re looking. What's been bothering you about your current windows? Drafts coming through a closed frame? Sashes that are increasingly hard to open? What are you hoping to change about how your home looks or feels?

The walkthrough is as much a conversation as it is an inspection, because a good recommendation requires understanding both the home and the person living in it. That way they give you a quote that reflects your actual needs.

Full-Frame or Insert Replacement. What's Right for Your Home?

Part of the walkthrough is determining the right installation method for your specific windows. A few key factors inform that decision: the material of your existing frames, their current condition, and the age of your home.

For  most homes, that means full-frame replacement. The existing frame comes out completely, and your new custom-built window goes into the rough opening.

On older homes with original wood frames still in solid condition, an insert replacement may be the better approach. This method will fit your new window within the existing frame to preserve interior finishes and minimize disruption to surrounding trim and plaster.

Either way, there's no compromise on the performance or efficiency of the final product.

What Customization Features Are Available With Nordik Windows and Doors?

Once the assessment wraps up, your consultant walks you through every option available for your specific home.

Here are your window customization options:

  • Window type: Casement, awning, hung, slider, picture, bay, and specialty shapes.

  • Frame colour: A full range of standard colours, or a custom colour. Mix your interior and exterior colours independently — your style, your call.

  • Double or triple pane: Almost all of Nordik's standard double-pane windows are ENERGY STAR® 2026 Most Efficient certified with an Energy Rating (ER) of 40 . This is Canada's highest energy efficiency designation, and one that beats many competitor triple-panes without the added cost. If you still prefer triple-pane for maximum performance (and depending on your budget, of course, as it is more expensive) almost all of our standard configurations hit ER 47 .

  • Custom glass: Solar control, bronze, frosted pinhead, and glue chip options for privacy or light diffusion.

  • Grille or Simulated Divided Light (SDL) styles: Between-glass grilles or exterior SDLs in classic to modern patterns — or none at all for a clean, uninterrupted view.

  • Hardware and locking: Cam-action locks on hung and slider windows, multi-point locks on casement and awning.

  • Screens: Standard or flex screens with a thinner frame that blends seamlessly with the frame from the outside.

Your door customization options:

  • Door material: Steel or fibreglass — both made-to-order and built for Canadian weather. Your consultant will help you choose what makes the most sense for your home.

  • Door style and configuration: Classic, contemporary, or shaker slab styles configured as a single door, with sidelites, double doors, or oversized sidelites. Standard or 8-foot heights available.

  • Paint colour: A full range of standard colours, or pick a custom colour to suit your style and make a bold statement.

  • Decorative glass inserts: Dozens of options from fully clear to fully private, with transoms available to match.

  • Hardware and locking: Standard deadbolt or multi-point lock with multiple lever styles and finishes.

And if a patio door is part of your project, you can choose between a sliding or French garden door, configured to your exact opening. You can also get it with the option for internal mini blinds between the glass panes for privacy and sun control without a curtain rod in sight.

Step 3: Your Nordik Quote

When the walkthrough and options conversation wraps up, your consultant builds your custom quote and gives it to you on the spot. Every window and door is itemized and installation is included.

Because Nordik manufactures its own product and manages installation directly, the quote you receive is the real number. What you see is what you pay. No placeholders. No estimates. No surprises.

Your consultant also walks you through the 25-Year No-Bull Warranty before you sign anything. What’s great is that it’s just one page with no fine print, so it takes less time to read than this blog.

It covers product, parts, labour, and installation for 25 full years. Non-prorated, meaning the coverage on year twenty-five is identical to the coverage on day one. Fully transferable if you ever sell your home, which adds real, documentable value to your property.

Step 4: Contract Signing

When you're ready to move forward, you sign a clear, straightforward contract. Everything discussed during the appointment is reflected on paper.

The goal of every Nordik consultation is simple: make sure you have everything you need to feel completely confident in your decision. You should feel excited, not have guesswork or unanswered questions.

When you're ready, we're here.

Step 5: Manufacturing

Once you sign, your project moves into production. Every window and door is custom-built to your exact specifications. Your measurements, your style choices, your colours, right here in Canada.

One thing we’re proud of is that Nordik manufactures its exclusive RevoCell® solid-core mPVC technology in-house, right here in our Ottawa facility. Every window has been engineered specifically for Canadian weather. Not imported, not pulled from a generic warehouse lineup, and not built to a "good enough" standard.

The solid-core mPVC frame is stronger and more energy-efficient than the industry standard of hollow vinyl with up to 30-40% more PVC. The frame is stronger, meaning it can be slimmer, so you get more glass and more natural light than standard windows at higher energy efficiency.

Manufacturing everything under one roof also means no middlemen and no added markups. You're paying for the window, not the supply chain.

Your production timeline is confirmed at signing and our team stays in touch throughout so you always know what to expect.

Step 6: Install

This is the part most homeowners are pleasantly surprised with. Not because anything went wrong, but because of how smoothly it went.

The crew shows up on time, works clean, and doesn't leave until the job is done right.

Here's the thing about window and door installation that doesn't get talked about enough: the product matters a lot, but the installation determines how it performs for years to come.

Every Nordik installation covers the details that actually make the difference:

  • Foam insulation packed into every cavity between the frame and your wall.

  • Precise levelling so your windows seal and operate exactly as engineered

  • Full caulking inside and out, sealing your windows against air and water infiltration.

All to the standard we're comfortable backing for 25 years.

At the end of the job, there's a full walkthrough so you know exactly what was done and what to expect going forward.

Step 7: After-Care Service and Warranty

The job wrapping up is not the end of the relationship. That's actually where it continues.

The 25-Year No-Bull Warranty that comes with your new windows and doors is now in full effect, and behind it is a team that actually picks up the phone.

One company. One warranty. One call.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do replacement windows cost in Ontario?

Window replacement cost in Ontario depends on a number of factors. This includes the number of windows, the style, the glass package, and the frame technology. There's no honest one-size-fits-all number, which is exactly why Nordik builds every quote custom around your specific home rather than quoting off a price list.

6 Factors That Can Affect Window Replacement Cost

How long does a home window assessment take?

About 45 minutes to an hour for most homes. Larger projects or whole-home replacements may take slightly longer.

What is the difference between insert or retrofit replacement and full-frame window installation?

Full-frame replacement removes your existing frame entirely, right down to the rough opening, and installs a completely new custom-built window in its place. This works for the majority of homes, and where Nordik's RevoCell® solid-core mPVC frames deliver their full performance benefit. Retrofit or insert replacement fits a new window inside your existing frame, leaving the original structure behind. This is great for older homes with original wood frames still in solid condition, to help preserve the interior finishes and minimize disruption to surrounding trim and plaster.

The right approach depends on the material, condition, and age of your existing frames. At Nordik, that's something we look at and give you honest advice on at your in-home consultation.

How often should windows be replaced in a home?

How long windows last depends on the material, the quality of the original installation, and honestly, how much abuse the weather has thrown at them over the years. That said, if your windows are from the 1990s or early 2000s and haven't had a professional look in a while, it's worth having someone take a proper look and assess their condition.

Can replacing my windows increase my home's resale value?

Yes, and in more ways than one. For starters, new windows improve your home's curb appeal immediately. This can influence buyer perception from the moment they pull up to the property. Plus, with Nordik, the 25-Year No-Bull Warranty is fully transferable. So new homeowners have peace of mind.

Energy-efficient windows are also an increasingly important factor for buyers, especially as energy bills rise. Plus, a full-frame replacement with high-performance windows removes a potential inspection flag and signals to buyers that the home has been properly maintained.
